Oil Painting: Colour and Texture
This four-week online course explores ways of making the most of the properties of oil paint, enlivening dull surfaces, loosening brush marks.
A free taster session on Wednesday 8 October 2025 2pm GMT will feature a demonstration of paint handling from a limited palette.

Limited colour palettes, from monochrome to triads, looking at their potential for atmosphere and expression, with demonstrations of each.
Wednesday 22 October
Hard and soft edges, how to produce them dynamically, and how they work to enhance drawing and form.
Wednesday 29 October
Opaque and translucent paint, thinking in layers. Looking at painting over old paintings to unlock the potential of hidden colours and textures.
Wednesday 4 November
The outer limits of texture and colour.
